10.1 Overview

This chapter shows you how to set up auto provisioning for the X2002's SIP clients, using the
Configuration > PBX > Server Configuration > Voice Mail screen.
Voice mail messages on the X2002 are stored on the built-in flash memory of the X2002. To
ensure that one user does not utilize a disproportionate amount of voice mail capacity, you can
limit the voice mail resources on a per user basis.

10.1.1 What You Can Do in the Voice Mail Screen

Use the Voice Mail screen to set maximum call lengths for one or all calls. See
on page 144
for more information.

10.1.2 What You Need to Know about Voice Mail

The following terms and concepts may help as you read through this chapter.

Voice Mail

Voice mail is a telephony technology for managing voice messages in a telephone network. In
many respects, it is the logical evolution of the simple answering machine. However, it offers
numerous additional features that answering machines cannot, such as the ability to store and
manage digital voice recordings from multiple phones simultaneously and the ability for users
to retrieve messages from any location via the phone network.
Access Personal Voice Mail
Users can access their personal voice mail system by dialing the feature code for voice mail
(by default, **) followed by their extension number. In the voice mail system, users can
manage their personal voice messages, record their temporary greeting or messages which are
played when they are unavailable or busy.
Voicemail Forwarding Method
You can manage your voice mail messages by forwarding them to email accounts associated
with each telephone extension on the X2002. See
how to configure email forwarding of voice mail messages.
