NOISE AND EMISSION CONTROL
Engine Fan and Shroud
WARNING!
Do not work on the fan with the engine
running. The engine fan can engage
at any time without warning. Anyone
near the fan when it turns on could be
injured. Before turning on the ignition,
be sure that no one is near the fan.
Check all fasteners for tightness.
Check for stress cracks in the
shroud. Make sure the shroud is
adjusted so that it does not touch
the fan blades.
Check to verify that the fan is

disengaged (not turning) with
the engine running at normal
operating temperatures (from cold
to the point that the fan engages).
Check fan blade mounting bolts.
Inspect fan blades to be sure they
are not cracked or bent.

Hood Insulation Blanket
Check all fasteners for condition
and security. Repair or replace
any broken or defective fasteners.
Check for chafing or tears. Patch
it if necessary. Find the cause of
the damage. If any component
or accessory is causing wear or
damage and cannot be relocated,
put reinforcing pads on the blanket
at the site of wear.

Inner Fender Shields and Cab Skirts
Check all fasteners that hold the
fender shields in place.
Check fender shields for tire
marks, worn spots, or damage
from objects thrown from tire
treads.
Check cab skirts, sills, and
brackets for overall condition
and repair them as necessary.
Damaged rubber fender shields
or cab skirting cannot be repaired.
You will need to replace it.
