Configuring GigabitEthernet Auto-Negotiation

By default, the SCE 2000 GBE line interface ports are configured with auto-negotiation disabled.

Step 1
At the SCE# prompt, type configure, and press Enter.
Enters the Global Configuration Mode.
At the SCE (config)# prompt, type interface GigabitEthernet 0/portnumber, and press Enter.
Step 2
- where portnumber is the number of the selected port (1-4).
Enters the GigabitEthernet Interface configuration mode for the specified GBE port.
Step 3
Type auto-negotiate and press Enter.
Enables auto-negotiation for the GBE interface.
Type exit and press Enter.
Step 4
Returns to Global Configuration Mode, from which you can enter the GigabitEthernet Interface configuration mode
for the remaining GBE ports.
Step 5
Repeat this procedure to configure auto-negotiation for the other GBE port interfaces.

Installing a Cascaded System

Install both SCE 2000s, power them up, and perform the initial system configuration.
Step 1
Connect both SCE 2000s to the management station.
Step 2
Connect the cascade ports (see Table 4). The cascade ports must be connected directly in Layer 1 (dark fibers), not

through switches.
Set topology configurations for each SCE 2000 using the connection-mode options.
Step 4
Make sure that the SCE 2000s have synchronized and active SCE 2000 was selected.
Step 5
If you want to start with bypass/sniffing, change the link mode to your required mode in both SCE 2000s on both links.
Step 6
The bypass mode will be applied only to the active SCE 2000.
Connect the traffic port of SCE 2000 #1. This will cause a momentary down time until the network elements from both
