To convert the Rikon Power Tools Model 70-105 for pen making, follow these steps:
1. Use an MT2 Pen Mandrel – The lathe has an MT2 taper, which allows you to install a pen mandrel for turning pen blanks. 2. Secure the Blank – Mount the pen blank on the mandrel and tighten it properly. 3. Adjust Speed – Use the easy access speed change feature to set an appropriate speed for pen turning. 4. Ensure Stability – The cast iron construction reduces vibration, but ensure the lathe is on a stable surface. 5. Utilize the Self-Ejecting Tail Stock – This feature makes it easier to remove the mandrel after turning. 6. Consider Extensions – If needed, add multiple extensions to accommodate longer projects.
This setup optimizes the lathe for pen making efficiently.
