    DIS-1/S About this document Validity This document applies to the recorder and streamer DIS-1/S (DIS). It has been produced on the basis of version 2.0.11 (software). Documents on the unit Operating instructions The document entitled "Operating Instructions" contains detailed descriptions on how to operate the unit.

    Do not make any modifications to the unit (neither to the software nor the hardware) without consulting Dallmeier electronic. Improper modifications can cause malfunctions or damages. Dallmeier electronic accepts no liability for damages resulting from unauthorized or improper modifications to the unit.

    DIS-1/S Installation and mounting The DIS is designed for stand-alone operation. As an option it may also be installed in a 19" standard rack. Requirements at the installation site Unfavorable local conditions may shorten the life of the product or lead to malfunctions.

    DIS-1/S Views and connection assignment Front view / status LEDs Fig. 5-1 Into the front panel the ventilation opening is integrated on the left side. The front lid with the ventilation slots is opening by hinges. Behind it is a replaceable filter mat. This should be replaced regularly.

    DIS-1/S Contact IN On the 6 pin Weidmüller plug connector maximally four external contacts can be attached. Pin 1 and pin 6 are used as mass point of reference. The connection of external contacts (e.g. alarm contacts) takes place at the pins 2 to 5.

    DIS-1/S Start up and login Start up Proceed as follows to start the DIS. Connect the DIS and the relevant peripherals to the power supply. Switch on the monitor. Switch on the relevant peripherals. Switch on the DIS at the mains switch (14, Fig. 5-2).

  • Page 17 DIS-1/S Transparency In the Transparency field you can adjust the settings for the transparency of the inserted dialogue windows and the operating interface. The higher the value set (0 to 5) the greater the transparency. Bit rate display The setting in the field Show bitrate determines what is shown in the operating interface at the bottom.

    DIS-1/S NOTE Please note that recording should be switched off during this playback function, as the last picture otherwise will not be reached (due to constant recording), thereby prohibiting an automatic repeat of the playback from the track start.     DIS-1/S Event log System-related errors, such as a camera or fan failure, are recorded in a list. The list can be called up via Common settings > Event log. If you access the DIS operation interface after such an error has occurred the list automatically appears.

    DIS-1/S Interfaces COM interface A controllable camera (e.g. dome) or an operating unit can be connected to the COM port of the DIS to control playback. Camera control These devices are controlled by the evaluation software (PView). The control commands are sent from an external device (or an external program) to the DIS via the DaVid protocol.

    DIS-1/S IR interface The IR function allows you to control the DIS via an external control unit. The control unit is connected via the external IR interface (optional extra) on the back side of the DIS or via the built-in IR interface on the front side of the DIS (between Error LED and the USB connection).

    DIS-1/S Network settings IMPORTANT Contact your authorized network administrator before you adjust the network settings. General settings The basic network settings are made in the Network settings dialogue window. Select Common settings > Network. Fig. 9-1 First select the appropriate Link speed for the current LAN.

    DIS-1/S 9.2.1 Setting up an Alarm host Click on the New button. Fig. 9-3 The selection is expanded to include the alarm host 1 entry. Click on the Name field. Enter at the virtual keypad the name of the computer which is to receive the alarm notifications from your DIS.

    DIS-1/S 9.2.2 Time control The calendar function for the alarm host can be used to limit notification transmission to certain time periods. NOTE „ Please note that this calendar“ only applies to the selected alarm host. Additionally, there is no connection to the calendar function for video recording.

    DIS-1/S Mark larger time areas Click the beginning of the desired time area with the right mouse button and hold. By moving the mouse, you now can lasso the inactive area to mark it. Fig. 9-9 9.2.2.2 Exceptions to the weekly plan To account for public holidays and company-specific deviations you can stipulate exceptions to the weekly plan.

    DIS-1/S 9.2.3 Editing and copying Editing Open the Alarm hosts dialogue for the appropriate alarm host to edit the details. Make the required changes and confirm them by clicking on OK. Fig. 9-17 Copying The Copy function allows you to make a copy of all settings for another alarm host.

    DIS-1/S 9.3.1 Configuring the DIS as a server Open the Video streaming dialogue window by clicking on Common settings > Video streaming. First of all set in the Mode field the protocol and the encryption you wish to use to send the data packets (MPEG or RTP/MPV).

    DIS-1/S In this case, first enter a Multicast IP Address. The address range for multicast is between 224.0.0.0 and 239.255.255.255. IMPORTANT Certain addresses in the multicast address range are reserved for special purposes. If you have any doubt, contact your network administrator.

    DIS-1/S Refer to the Server (DaVid) tab to see which servers are stored. If changes were made, click the Refresh button to update the list. Click Remove to delete all entries in the list. Fig. 9-20 If your DIS is removed from a network and integrated into another network without clients, all servers currently in the list should be removed.

    DIS-1/S 10 Recording settings 10.1 Track configuration The number of configurable tracks depends on the number of hard disks installed in the DIS (one or two). Each track can be assigned to a hard disk. In a DIS with two hard disks, therefore, a maximum of two separate tracks can be created.

    DIS-1/S Uncheck the checkbox next to Partition 3. Click the Name field and enter the desired track designation using the virtual keypad. Click on Apply. Fig. 10-4 Click New to create the second track. Partition 3 will be activated automatically if you created the first track on partition 1.
  • Page 35 DIS-1/S Meaning of the individual settings options Input Here you can select which encoder you would like to use for digitalization. Encoder 1 is the default setting for the DIS and can not be changed. Bitrate The bit rate is a measure of the degree of compression of video data. It thus has a direct impact on the image quality of the recording.

    DIS-1/S Extended GOPs GOP sizes 18, 21, 24, 27 and 30 only can be set if the checkbox located next to the extended GOPs option is ticked. Please, however, note that reverse playback is only possible in reduced quality (frame drops) when these GOP sizes are used.

    DIS-1/S 10.2.1 Permanent Select Permanent to record without interruption. No other settings are required for this recording mode. Fig. 10-10 10.2.2 Contact If you have selected the Contact mode, recording will only start in response to a corresponding contact. Recording will then stop again when the contact is canceled.

    DIS-1/S 10.2.4 Contact start / stop With the setting Contact start/stop, recording is started with one contact and stopped with another contact. NOTE Start and stop can also be achieved with just one contact. Depending on the contact (opener or closer), one of the two signals must be inverted (check the invert signal checkbox).

    DIS-1/S Within a continuous recording, individual events captured in the event recording (see chapter 10.2.9) are evaluated as a single event and only one marker is set. 10.2.7 DaVid start/stop This mode is used if the recording is to be controlled by an external program or device.

    DIS-1/S You can decide which events are included in the event recording by checking the appropriate checkboxes. record start If the checkbox for record start is checked, a marker is recorded at every recording start regardless of other settings. motion This marker is set if a motion, in other words a change of the image of the recorded scene, is detected.

    DIS-1/S 10.3 Scheduler The Scheduler constitutes a recording mode as described in the previous section. As a result of the detailed configuration facilities for this mode, the settings are not made in the Recording settings dialogue but in a separate dialogue.
  • Page 43 DIS-1/S NOTE The smallest time period that can be set is 15 minutes. Proceed in the same way to define larger time areas. To set the time area, always begin at the top left and trace the square to the desired size.

    DIS-1/S 10.3.2 Exceptions in the week timer All settings in the week timer apply to the whole year. However, exceptions for public holidays or company-specific requirements can be stipulated as exceptions in the week timer. Select the tab Exceptions. Click on the New button.

    DIS-1/S Copying an exception setting If the setting is the same for every public holiday, for example, you can copy previously made settings for other days. Click on the Copy button. Select the next date in the Calendar which appears.

    DIS-1/S The entry in the Input field is permanently preset at Encoder 1. In the Source field you can specify whether the video signal is a CVBS signal (Video IN input/ Composite) or a Y/C signal (S-Video input/S-Vi- deo). Fig. 10-35 To obtain a better impression of the overall picture while making a particular setting you can have the pop-up dialogue window partly shown on a transparent background.

    DIS-1/S 3dVCN Noise filter The 3dVNC Noise filter is a temporal filter. Successive images are compared to each other and noise will be eliminated. Select the 3dVCN Noise filter dialogue via Common settings > 3dVCN Noise filter. Fig. 10-37 In the Filter setting field you can adjust the following settings: off, light, medium, strong or very strong.

    Select the Position tab. A screen will be shown through the blue rectangle background on the right-hand side of the dialogue (Dallmeier logo). The white lines represent the stylized playback panel of a typical evaluation station. The white rectangle (with the blue corner) symbolizes the screen area in which the fieldcontact data are displayed.
  • Page 49 DIS-1/S If you click on the blue corner (bottom right), you can change the size of the display area by pressing and holding the mouse button. The Width and the Height of the display area is displayed in pixels on the left-hand side of the dialogue.

    This activation procedure is carried out in the HDD management configuration dialogue. To use this function, a so-called Day Password must be entered for security purposes. You can obtain this from the Dallmeier Support Team by quoting the serial number of the DIS. NOTE Request your day password before you install the hard disk in the sub-rack.
