2.2.8 Setting Port Mirroring

Port mirroring means duplicating data on the monitored port to the designated monitor
port, for purpose of data analysis and supervision. The switch supports multiple-to-one
mirroring, that is, you can duplicate packets from multiple ports to a monitor port.
You can also specify the monitor direction:
Only inbound packets
Only outbound packets
Both inbound and outbound packets
The following commands are involved in configuring port mirroring.
Please perform the following configurations in system view.
Table 2-9 Setting port mirroring
Configure monitor port
Configure monitored port
Cancel the setting of monitored port
Cancel the setting of monitor port
You should first configure monitor port and then monitored port before setting port
mirroring. On the contrary, you must first cancel the monitored port first then the monitor
port before removing port mirroring.
Note:
You can also specify packet direction when canceling the setting of monitored port:
1) Only inbound packets
2) Only outbound packets
3) Both inbound and outbound packets
If you configure monitoring both inbound and outbound packets on the monitored port, and only cancel
monitoring inbound packet on it, then the outbound packets on the port will still be monitored, and the
setting of monitor port cannot be removed.
For more details about the commands, see the corresponding contents in the
Command Manual.
