The HELIX control head includes a built-in map. You can also install a microSD map card with additional chart information for a
particular location (separate purchase required).
When you install a microSD map card, the control head automatically chooses the best map to display. You can also change the map
source manually.
Install a microSD Map Card
1. Install a microSD map card into the control head card slot. See HELIX Control Head: microSD Card Slot for details.
NOTE: Do not leave the card slot cover open. The slot cover should always be closed to prevent water damage to the unit.
Change the Map Source
When you install a microSD map card, the map source is changed automatically to match the microSD map card map source. You
can also change the map source manually.
When you change the map source, the menus for the chart views also change, allowing you to add navigation data, shading, alarms,
and more.
1. Main Menu: Press the MENU key twice. Select the Chart tab.
2. Select Map Source.
3. Select the installed map card location or a built-in map.
Auto: The best available map will be selected automatically.
Change Map Options
Change the Map Coordinate System (optional)
Use Map Datum to change the map coordinate system used by the control head to match those of a paper map. Almost all electronic
charts use the WGS84 Map Datum and most likely do not require a setting change. (Default = WGS84)
1. Main Menu (Advanced User Mode): Press the MENU key twice. Select the Nav tab.
2. Select Map Datum.
3. Press the RIGHT or LEFT Cursor keys to change the setting.
Apply an Offset to the Map (optional)
Use Set Map Offset to move the chart position on-screen and correct a position error in the cartography. This setting applies to all
charts, not just the chart that requires correction.
NOTE: This feature is not available with Humminbird LakeMaster map cards.
1. Display a Chart View on-screen.
2. Use the Cursor Control key to move the cursor to the position where the map offset will be applied.
3. Main Menu (Advanced User Mode): Press the MENU key twice. Select the Chart tab.
4. Select Set Map Offset.
5. Press the RIGHT Cursor key.
