In order to achieve good cleaning
results, the lab washer needs to
operate with soft water. Hard water
results in the build-up of calcium
deposits on laboratory glassware and
utensils etc. and in the lab washer.
Mains water with a hardness level
higher than 4 gr/gal (70 ppm CaCO
needs to be softened. This takes place
automatically in the integrated water
softener.
– The water softener requires
reactivation salt.
– The lab washer must be
programmed to correspond to the
water hardness in your area.
– Your local water authority will be able
to advise you on the water hardness
in your area.
Where the water hardness fluctuates
e.g. between 8 - 17 gr/gal (140 -
310 ppm CaCO

The built-in water softener has
settings from 1 - 60 gr/gal (20 -

Programming the water
softener
^ Switch off the machine.
^ Turn the programme selector to f.
^ Press ß and 6 at the same time,
hold them in and, whilst doing so,

switch the machine on with the
"On/Off" switch.
The current programme status P.... will
appear in the display. The indicator
light "Rinse/Drain" will come on.
^ Press 0 once.
E01 will appear in the display.
^ Turn the programme selector one
switch position clockwise (1 o'clock
position).
The number 19 will appear in the
display (the factory water hardness
default setting in gr/gal, equivalent to
340 ppm CaCO
^ Press ß as many times as
necessary, or hold it in until the
required value (degree of hardness
in gr/gal) appears in the display.

Once the number 60 has been reached,
the counter will begin again at 0.
^ Press 6.
SP will appear in the display.
^ Press 6 again.
The setting will now be stored in
memory. The display will clear.
The machine is now ready for use.
