INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the Minolta Slide Feeder SC-100.
The Slide Feeder SC-100 is designed for use with the Minolta Dimâge Scan Multi
scanner and allows you to automatically feed and continuously scan up to 50
mounted slides at one time. The Slide Feeder can be used with either the
Dimâge Scan Multi utility software, TWAIN driver, or plug-in and allows you to
select the file destination.
Before using the Slide Feeder, please read this instruction manual thoroughly. It
is also necessary to read the Accessory Information section in the scanner's
software instruction manual.

    ATTACHING THE SLIDE FEEDER 1. Remove the connector cover from the top of the scanner. 2. Press the power switch to turn the scanner on. • Set-up will begin. • The green indicator lamp blinks slowly while the scanner is busy setting-up.
  • Page 7 3. Insert the slide carrier into the film-slot in the direction indicated by the white arrow on top of the carrier. • Do not insert the slide carrier at an angle. • The slide carrier is included in the slide- feeder package.

  • Page 9 7. Tighten the holding screws on both sides of the slide feeder, then tighten the holding screw on the top of the scanner. • Tighten the holding screws by pressing and turning. 8. Press the power switch on the front of the slide feeder to turn the scanner on.

    RECOMMENDED SLIDE MOUNTS The Slide Feeder can load approximately 50 mounted slides (1.6mm thickness). The number of slides that can be loaded depends on the thickness of the slide mounts. Slide mounts should be between 1 – 3mm thick and have a flat, even surface on both the top and bottom.

    LOADING SLIDES 1. Lift the cover. 2. Raise and hold the pressure bar on the “IN” column. Continued on next page.
  • Page 12 LOADING SLIDES – CONT’D 3. Insert the slides emulsion side down. Make sure the slides are oriented vertically, as shown. • See the “Film Emulsion” section in the hardware instruction manual that accompanied the scanner. • Do not fill the slide feeder past the fill line.

Gently close the slide feeder cover. • Once the slide feeder is loaded, follow the slide feeder scanning procedure as explained in the Accessory Information section of the software instruction manual. • The slides are scanned starting from the bottom of the “IN” column stack to the top.

    DETACHING THE SLIDE FEEDER 1. Quit all applications, then shut down the computer. 2. Press the power switch on the slide feeder to turn the scanner off. • Always be sure the scanner is off when attaching and detaching the slide feeder.
  • Page 15 3. Loosen the holding screws on the sides of the slide feeder, then loosen the holding screw on the top of the scanner. • Turn the screws until they spring out of the socket. 4. Gently lift the slide feeder straight up from the scanner.

    REMOVING JAMMED SLIDES Occasionally a slide will not move through the slide feeder properly and will get jammed. When a slide gets jammed, simply remove the slide following the procedure below. 1. Quit all applications, then shut down the computer. 2.
  • Page 19 4. Remove the slides from both the “IN” and “OUT” columns. 5. Remove the mount cover. • Grasp the mount cover, pressing firmly on the front and lift. Continued on next page.
  • Page 20 REMOVING JAMMED SLIDES – CONT’D 6. If the visible portion of the slide carrier is not flush against the front edge of the slide feeder, gently pull it so it is flat against the edge. 7. Remove the metal spring.
  • Page 21 8. Slide the transport unit to the right, then lift it out. • The amount of effort needed to remove the unit may vary depending on where the slide is stuck. 9. Lift the pressure bar and push the slide out.

  • Page 24 If a jammed slide cannot be easily removed using the procedure described in this section, do not attempt to remove it forcefully. Damage may occur. Leave the scanner off and call a Minolta Service Facility listed on the back cover of this manual.

    CARE AND HANDLING When an error occurs that requires the scanner to be turned off, always follow the procedure below. 1. Click on OK in the error message dialog box (if one appears). 2. Quit all applications. 3. Shut down the PC. 4.

    • The slide carrier is not inserted. • A film holder is inserted instead of the slide carrier. • The fluorescent lamp unit cover is not fully closed. • The fluorescent lamp is burnt out. • There is a hardware malfunction. Contact a Minolta service facility.
