  • Page 8 2 Safety 2.1 Warnings The purpose of warnings Warnings alert persons to hazards that occur when handling or using the product. Description of the key words used DANGER Draws attention to imminent danger that will lead to serious personal injury or fatality. WARNING Draws attention to a potentially dangerous situation that could lead to serious personal injury or fatality.
  • Page 9 ▶ Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. ▶ Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
  • Page 10 Accessories that do not match the mounting hardware of the power tool will run out of balance, vibrate excessively and may cause loss of control. ▶ Do not use a damaged accessory. Before each use inspect the accessory such as abrasive wheels for chips and cracks, backing pad for cracks, tear or excess wear, wire brush for loose or cracked wires.
  • Page 11 ▶ The grinding surface of centre depressed wheels must be mounted below the plane of the guard lip. An improperly mounted wheel that projects through the plane of the guard lip cannot be adequately protected. ▶ The guard must be securely attached to the power tool and positioned for maximum safety, so the least amount of wheel is exposed towards the operator.
  • Page 12 ▶ Dirty or dusty power tools that have been used frequently for work on conductive materials should be checked at regular intervals at a Hilti Service Center. Under unfavorable circumstances, dampness or dust adhering to the surface of the power tool, especially dust from conductive materials, may lead to damage to the power tool.
  • Page 13 It is recommended that a dust removal system consisting of matched components, i.e. dust removal hood and a suitable Hilti vacuum cleaner, are used for working on mineral materials such as concrete or stone. These protect the operator and increase the life of the power tool and accessory tools used.
