External Communication Interface

To download events from the PowerVisa through the optical port, you must have the
Isolated
Communications
following: a personal computer or laptop with Windows
Module
RS232 serial port or network adapter, NodeLink
Communications Module assembly as described below.
The Isolated Communications Module assembly consists of two parts:
1. A fiber optic cable (P/N 900406) which connects the PowerVisa optical serial port to
the communication module;
2. The PowerVisa communication module which is available in three types:
• a 9-pin RS232 Communication Module (P/N COMM-RS232)
• a USB Communication Module (P/N COMM-OUA)
• an Ethernet Communication Module (P/N COMM-OEA)
The PowerVisa communication modules are optically isolated devices using infrared
light to transfer text and graphics to a computer running NodeLink
designed to connect the PowerVisa optical serial port to the appropriate interface -
either a standard RS232 serial port connector, USB adapter, or Ethernet adapter.
With NodeLink
setups, or view real time meter data from the PowerVisa. The downloaded data can be
viewed using the DranView
