This unit includes the light source lamp (UHE:220W), the connector for ballast power supply
and fuse board (FUSE board). The lamp inner housing fixed three screws on the back of the
lower case is user replaceable item you can purchase it at EPSON service center.
The brightness of the lamp is 1700lm (EMP-9000) / 2200lm (EMP-8000), but it reduces corre-
sponding to its running hours. When the lamp is new, its brightness is maximum. After running
about 2000 hours, the lamp reduces its brightness to almost 50 to 70 percent of a new one.
The fuse board (FUSE board) is provided to determine whether the lamp inner housing is new
one or not, and used to control the end of the lamp life (2000 hours).
The connector for ballast power supply is applied to receive the lamp power from the ballast
unit, so its lead wire is connected to the bulb.
1. The light source lamp
The brightness of the light source lamp reduces in proportion to its running hours as men-
tioned above. In this device the standard lamp life is 2000 hours. If you notice the lamp bright-
ness reduces, we recommend you to replace the lamp inner housing even before 2000 hours.
The total running hour of the light source lamp is written in EEPROM (IC1107) on the Main
board Assy unit. If the lamp is reaching or has reached the end of its life, CPU (IC1101) out-
puts some signals to control the following.
(1). When the total running hour has reached 1900 hours (1900~2000), an orange lamp indi-
cators blink. The CPU on the Main board Assy unit has counted the total running hours
and has written the running data in EE-PROM. The lamp will run only 100 hours after the
orange lamp indicators start to blink, so you should replace the lamp as soon as possible.
(2). When the total running hour exceeds 2000 hours. Lamp life is finished.
(3). Ballast power for light source lamp is controlled with "BACTA" signal provide from CPU on
the main board Assy unit. Ballast unit monitors load current with detection circuit and out-
put the "LPSTC" signal to the CPU when the load current goes off (lamp off condition).
CPU notify the user of lamp off condition by blinking lamp indicator in red.
