Software Installation
This chapter provides software installation instructions for the Strata CIX PC Attendant Console.
The Strata CIX PC Attendant Console has two main components: the application and the database
utility. Typically, these two components are installed on the same PC (the main Attendant
Console). Additional consoles on a system share the database on the main Attendant Console
PC. This software installation chapter includes downloading the license and the programming in
the CIX database to support the PC Digital Attendant Console.
The table below shows the number of PC Attendant Consoles supported by each Strata CIX
system. Multiple consoles automatically share the incoming call load on a call-by-call rotation
basis. Features such as Overflow, Position Busy, and Interposition Call Transfer add to the
efficiency of single or multiple console applications. When installing multiple PC Digital Attendant
Consoles on a system the database is installed on only one PC.

Important! Installing and running the Strata CIX Attendant Console Version 6 on a PC that is a
member of a Microsoft Windoes Domain is not supported. The Attendant Console
PC must be configured as a Workgroup computer.

Turnkey System

The Strata CIX PC Digital Attendant Console is sold as a turnkey package that includes a PC with
Microsoft® Windows® operating system and Strata CIX PC Digital Attendant Console application
software is pre-installed at the factory prior to shipment. If this is a turnkey system skip the

Upgrade an R5 PC Console

To upgrade an installed R5 attendant console perform the following steps:
1. Backup the R5 attendant console database. Refer to
page 3-2
2. Remove the attendant console software from the attendant console PC.
