saw. This is to ensure accuracy and safety when in operation.
Warning!
Before carrying out any maintenance or adjustments the
machine must be disconnected from the mains power supply.
BLADE TO TABLE ALIGNMENT (PICS.6 TO 10)
You may need an assistant to help with this adjustment. Slacken
the bevel position locking lever (Pic.6) (6.1). Ensuring that the
blade is in the 0°bevel position (Vertical) to the rotating table.
Slacken the rotating table lock knob (Pic.7) (7.1). Position the
rotating table to the 0° position (90° to the work support fence).
Tighten the rotating table lock knob. Depress the guard locking
lever (Pic.8) (8.1) and lower the blade into the table slot. Using a
protractor or suitable 90° set square measure the angle that the
blade makes with the rotating table (Pic.9) (9.1).
Note: The protractor shown is not supplied. Make sure that the
protractor or set square does not touch the teeth on the blade as
a false reading may occur due to the thickness of the tungsten
carbide tip. If adjustment is required proceed as follows. Locate
the adjusting screw (Pic.10) (10.1) and lock nut (Pic.10) (10.2)
towards the rear of the machine. Loosen the lock nut and rotate
the adjusting screw clockwise or anti-clockwise, to increase or
decrease the angle of the blade. When the blade has been set
to 90° allow the saw to return to the upper position. Hold the
adjusting screw, and tighten the lock nut to secure the setting.
Lower the blade and re-check the 90°angle on the bevel angle
scale, making fine adjustments if necessary.
Note: Check the position of the bevel angle pointer and set to 0°
on the angle scale if necessary.
BLADE TO FENCE ALIGNMENT (PICS.11 TO 13)
Caution: Always follow this setup procedure if the fence is
removed or replaced. The adjustment can only be made after
the blade has been aligned in the table slot. Slacken the rotating
table lock knob (Pic.11) (11.1) Position the rotating table to the
0°position (90° to the work support fence) (Pic.11) (11.2). Lower
the saw head into the down position. Place a suitable set square
or adjustable protractor against the blade (Pic.12) (12.1).
Carefully move the set square up to the fence (Pic.12) (12.2).
The angle should measure 90°. If adjustment is necessary,
loosen the securing screws (Pic.13) (13.1). that secure the
fence to the base at each end of the base. Adjust the fence
until it is at 90° to the blade. Resecure the securing screws and
re-check the angle.
ADJUSTING THE 45° BEVEL STOP (PICS.14 TO 16)
Make sure that the rotating table is set at 0° on the angle scale.
Loosen the bevel stop locking screw located at the rear of the
machine (Pic.14) (14.1). Grip the handle and move the cutting
head assembly over to the left until it rests on the adjustment
screw, the scale should read 45° (Pic.14) (14.2). Position a
suitable protractor or set square on the table and measure the
angle to the blade. It should be 45° from the vertical position
or 135° from the table (Pic.15) (15.1). If adjustment is required
proceed as follows:
Locate the adjusting screw (Pic.16) (16.1)and lock nut (Pic.16)
(16.2) located towards the rear of the machine. Loosen the lock
nut, and rotate the adjusting screw clockwise or anti-clockwise,
to increase or decrease the angle of the blade. When the blade
has been set to 45° allow the cutting head to return to the upper
position. Hold the adjusting screw and tighten the lock nut to
secure the setting. Lower the cutting head and re-check the 45°
angle making a fine adjustment if necessary. When the correct
angle of 45° is achieved, all that is required is to check that the
pointer aligns with 45° on the scale.
BTL305:
REAR LOWER BLADE GUARD (PIC.17)
The rear lower blade guard is situated to the rear of the blade
(Pic.17) (17.1). The blade must run centrally between the blade
guard. Slacken the two cross head screws (Pic.17) (17.2). and
adjust the position of the guard. Re-tighten the two screws. Do
not remove this guard.

FINAL CHECK

With the machine switched OFF and disconnected from the
mains supply carry out the following final check.
When all adjustments have been made, set the machine at each
of the maximum settings. Lower the blade to its lowest position,
and rotate the blade by hand (it is advisable to wear gloves
whilst doing this) and ensure that the blade does not foul on any
part of the machine castings or guards.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

BLADE GUARD

The clear blade guard covers the blade when the cutting head is
in its uppermost position. Familiarise yourself with its operation
before starting the motor. Grip the handle with your right hand
and with your thumb move the blade guard locking lever to the
right to allow the blade guard to operate. With a gradual smooth
action lower the cutting head assembly downwards until it stops.
Again with a gradual smooth action let the blade raise until it
stops, at the same time release the blade guard locking lever.
Note: At the completion of each cut release the On/ Off trigger
switch and allow the blade to stop rotating before raising the
cutting head assembly. Warning! Do not remove or attempt to
modify the blade guard in any way.
STARTING AND STOPPING (PIC.18)
Plug the machine into a suitable 13 amp outlet socket. Grip
the handle with your right hand. The On/Off trigger switch is
located under the handle to enable the fingers to squeeze the
trigger comfortably (Pic.18) (18.1). Simply squeeze to START
and release to STOP.
Warning!
Never use the sawn material to slow down the saw blade. The
machine is equipped with an electrical braking mechanism.
Release the trigger switch with the cutting head assembly still
n the down position and allow the blade to come to a complete
standstill before returning to the upright position.
