How to Remove a
Steer Cylinder
There are two identical steer cylinders that
work in parallel. They are part of the same
hydraulic circuit, but move in opposite directions.
The tie rod cylinder maintains equal movement of
the tires.
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or the
hose end must be replaced. All connections must
be torqued to specification during installation.
Refer to Section 2, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting
Torque Specifications .
1 Tag, disconnect and plug the hydraulic hoses
from the steer cylinder. Cap the fittings on the
cylinder.
2 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the
steer cylinder pivot pins. Remove the pivot pin
from each end of the steer cylinder.
3 Remove the steer cylinder from the machine.
