    Installing the Printer Driver Reference The PPD driver is only supported in Windows. However, the PPD driver is not supported by Windows Server 2003 R2. In a Mac OS X environment, use the PS Plug-in driver. For details about the PPD driver, refer to the HTML User's Guide. In a Windows environment )Installation Start the installer from the Driver CD supplied with this machine, then install the printer driver on your computer.

    Paper Setting Paper Setting Specifying paper information for a tray Specify the required information (size, type, weight, and other values) for the paper loaded into a paper tray. If standard-size paper is loaded, its size is recognized automatically. To load custom-size paper, specify the required size.

There is, however, a group of sizes having subtle distinctions, so that the machine cannot distinguish in the operation of size detection. To identify these sizes as one size so that they can be judged by the machine, you can select the size to be detected in [Detect Size Setting].

    Printer Driver Setting )[Color Mode]: 2-Color Printing To print process colors (CMYK) using Spot Colors (Special colors), open [Color Mode] in the print setting screen, then specify the colors to be used in [2-Color Printing]. In 2-Color Printing, process colors (CMYK) can be replaced with Spot Colors (Special colors) for printing. To specify each color, enter the spot color name into the text box on the right-hand side of the selected color.

    PRESS C1100/C1085 Maintaining the Finishing Quality Both Sides Adjustment Both Sides Adjustment When performing the duplex printing, you can adjust a misalignment between the front and back sides to align the printing positions on the front and back sides. This task is referred to as Both Sides Adjustment.

    Both Sides Adjustment NOTICE A high technical skill is required to adjust the reference position on the print side. Before carrying out this adjustment, contact your service representative. Making the Both Sides Adjustment for each tray Adjust a misalignment between the front and back sides, which is caused during the duplex printing, for each tray. The following methods are available to carry out the Both Sides Adjustment.
  • Page 51 PRESS C1100/C1085 Select the tray with the target paper loaded, then press [Change Set]. Press [Both Sides Adj]. Press [Print Mode]. When the [PRINT MODE] screen is displayed, press Start on the control panel. A test chart is printed out.
  • Page 52 Both Sides Adjustment Press [Exit Print Mode]. Measure the gap between the front and back sides at each point of [a] to [d] on the [back] side of the printed out chart. This figure shows an example to measure [a]. The scale resolution is 0.5 mm.

If the printing position is misaligned to the minus (–) side, enter a positive value (+). If the printing position is misaligned to the plus (+) side, enter a negative value (–).
  • Page 54 Both Sides Adjustment Check a gap of the printing position refering the printed out chart. Repeat steps 7 to 10 until all gaps between the front and back sides are cleared. Press [Exit Print Mode]. After the adjustment is completed, press [OK].

    PRESS C1100/C1085 )Chart Adjustment You can print out a Both Sides Adjustment chart, measure measurement points using a scale, and enter measurement values in order to carry out the adjustment. Using this function, you can only enter measurement values to carry out the both-side adjustment. This is convenient when an unclear misalignment is detected between the front and back sides to perform the duplex printing with a new type of paper or to change paper in a tray.

    PRESS C1100/C1085 Image Quality Adjustment Image Quality adjustment Adjust the color image quality at periodic intervals to maintain consistent printing results against a change in ambient temperature or humidity, a change of this machine conditions, or a change of the color tone due to the paper type or print mode.

    Image Quality Adjustment Daily image quality management (Calibration) You can maintain the color image quality by executing calibration at the appropriate timing. The reference value (target) of the entire printing system is registered in advance. Compare this reference value with the current measurement value to adjust the difference, and correct the printing density.

    PRESS C1100/C1085 Maximum Density Auto Adjustment (RU) Automatically adjust the maximum density of each of yellow, magenta, cyan, and black, using the output paper density sensor that is installed on the Relay Unit RU-511. Carry out this function before carrying out the [Color Density Control] function.
