    The on-line documentation provides details on the hardware installation, configuration and use of the 594M Controller. System Requirements The 594M Utility program has 3 modes of installation.     Introduction Serial Connection If you plan to connect to the 594M controller with the serial connection, then the following is also required: • An RS-232 serial port which supports the 16550 UART mode. APPC Connection If you plan to connect to the 594M locally through the Twinaxial interface, or remotely through the AS/400 APPN network, then the following is also required: •...

    Choose a destination hard drive and directory for the 594M software. Note : If you are going to use the APPC connection option to connect to the 594M, then do NOT change the default directory name. As well, the hard drive chosen should be the same hard drive on which the Client Access/400 for DOS will be installed.
  • Page 10 Select how the 594M Utility program should be installed then click Next. The choices are: Stand-alone This mode allows you to run the 594M Utility without any connection to the 594M. It is used to create and review configuration files for the 594M which are stored on the PC hard drive.

    Add/Remove and follow the on-screen instructions until the program files have been removed. If any configuration files have been created and stored in the 594M Utility directory, these files and the directory will not be removed. Running 594M Utility The 594M Utility runs differently depending on the mode in which it was installed. Please refer to the on-line manual 594M User’s Guide for details.
