If the snowthrowerwillnot be usedfor30 daysor longer,or if it is the end of the snowseasonwhenthe last possibilityof snowis gone,the
equipmentneedsto be storedproperly.Followstorageinstructionsbelowto ensuretop performance from the snowthrowerfor manymoreyears.
PREPARING
THE ENGINE
Enginesstoredover30 days need to be drainedof fuel to prevent
deterioration and gumfrom formingin the fuel systemor on essential
carburetorparts.If thegasolinein yourenginedeterioratesduring
storage,youmay needto havethe carburetor,and otherfuel system
components,servicedor replaced.
1.
Removeall fuel fromthe tank by runningtheengine untilit stops.
2.
Changethe engineoil.
3.
Removethe sparkplug and pourapproximately1 oz. (30 ml)of
cleanengineoil intothe cylinder.Pullthe recoilstarterseveral
timesto distributethe oil,and reinstallthe spark plug.
4.
Cleantheexteriorof the engineby wipingdirt and debrisfrom the
followingareas:
CoolingFins
Air IntakeScreenor RecoilStarter/Flywheel G uardAreas
SparkPlugConnection
Levers
LinkageArea
Guards
Carburetor
EngineHead

Do not spraythe enginewithwater to cleanit becausethewater
couldcontaminate the fuel. Usinga gardenhoseor pressurewashing
equipmentcanalso forcewater intothe muffleropening.Waterthat
passesthroughthe mufflercan entertheenginecylinderand cause
damage.
5.
Storeina clean,dry and wellventilatedarea awayfrom any
appliancethat operateswith a flameor pilot light,such as a
furnace,waterheateror clothesdryer.Avoidany areawith a spark
producingelectricmotor,or wherepowertools are operated.
Neverstoresnow throwerwith fuel in tank indoorsor in poorlyventi-
latedareas,wherefuel fumesmay reachan openflame,spark or pilol
lightas on a furnace,water heater,clothesdryer or gas appliance.
6.
If possible,avoidstorageareaswith high humidity.
7.
Keepthe enginelevelin storage.Tiltingthe engine can cause
fuelor oil leakage.

If the snowthrowerwill not be usedfor 30 days or longer,followthe
instructionsbelow.
1.
Storethe equipmentin a clean, dry area.
2.
Wipedownthe snow throwerwith a rag and removeanydirt or
debris.
3.
If storingthe snowthrowerin an unventilatedarea,rustproofthe
metal parts of the machinewith a lightoil or siliconecoating.
