Engaging the Cutting Unit
Drive
1. On
The cutting unit drive can be engaged only when the
operator is seated correctly, refer to
Operator-Presence-Seat Switch (page
Cutting unit drive engagement: Press the top of the
cutting-unit-drive switch to the on position
All cutting unit drives disengagement: Set the switch to
the off position
(Figure

To lower the cutting units: The cutting unit drive switch
must be set to the on position. Operate the lift-control
switch(s) in a downward direction. The machine drives when
the cutting units are approximately 150 mm (6 inches) above
ground level.
Using
Weight-Transfer/Traction
Assistance
A variable hydraulic weight transfer system is provided for
improving tire grip with the grass surface—traction assistance.
Hydraulic pressure in the cutting units lift system provides a
lifting force which reduces the weight of the cutting units
on the ground and transfers the weight as a downward force
onto the tires of the machine. This action is known as weight
transfer.
To engage weight transfer: The amount of weight transfer
can be varied to suit operating conditions by rotating the
weight-transfer hand wheel
1. Release the valve locknut 1/2 turn counterclockwise
and hold
(Figure
40).
2. Rotate the valve hand wheel
counterclockwise to reduce weight transfer or
clockwise to increase weight transfer.
3. Tighten the nut.
Note: The recommended setting is to increase weight
transfer until heads start to lift, then back off 1/2 turn, and
lock.

Folding the ROPS

You can fold the ROPS frame down to allow access into areas
of restricted height.
WARNING
The machine does not have a Rollover Protection
System when the ROPS is folded down and should
not be considered as Rollover Protection System.
Do not wear a seatbelt when the ROPS is lowered.
1. Park the machine on a level surface, engage the parking
brake, and shut off the engine.
2. Support the weight of the upper frame while removing
the R-clips and pins from the pivot brackets
3. Carefully lower the frame downwards until it rests on
the stops.
4. Insert the pins in the lower holes and secure with
the R-clips to support the upper frame in its lowered
position.
5. To raise the frame, follow these instructions in reverse
order.
