Understanding the
Operator-Presence Controls
Note: The engine stops if the operator leaves the seat
without engaging the parking brake.
Engine Start Lockout: The engine can only be started
when the forward/reverse travel pedal is in the N
position, the cutting unit drive switch is in the O
and the parking brake is engaged. When these circumstances
are satisfied, switches are activated permitting the engine to
be started.
Engine Run Interlock: Once the engine is started the
operator must be seated before the parking brake is released
for the engine to continue to run.
Flail Rotor Drive Lockout: The drive to the flail rotors is
only possible when the operator is seated. If the operator
raises off the seat for a period of more than 1 second, a switch
is activated and the drive to the flail rotors is automatically
disengaged. To engage drive to the flail rotors, the operator
must return to the seat, then operate the cutting unit drive
switch to the O
position before moving it back to the O
FF
position. If the operator rises off the seat for a brief moment
during normal work, drive to the flail rotors is not affected.
The engine can only be started with the cutting unit drive
switch in the O
position.

WARNING
Operating the machine when the operator-presence
controls are malfunctions is dangerous and can lead
to accidents causing personal injury.
Always replace damaged or worn parts and check
that the operator-presence controls are functioning
correctly before operating the machine.
CAUTION
If safety-interlock switches are disconnected or
damaged the machine could operate unexpectedly
causing personal injury.
• Do not tamper with the interlock switches.
• Check the operation of the interlock switches
daily and replace any damaged switches before
operating the machine.
Starting and Shutting Off the

Important: You must bleed the fuel system before
starting the engine if you are starting the engine for the
