User interface

The user interface of the handset is mostly contained in the top half of the product, connected to the main
section through the slide mechanism by a flexi circuit.
The UI board consists of a 4-layer PWB containing:
• IrDA interface device
• low-power flashing LED circuit
• front facing camera
• display accelerator ASIC
• interconnections for the display
• interconnections for the S60 UI PWB
The user interface sections contained on the engine PWB are:
• main power key
• ITU keymat
• dedicated camera shutter key

Main flexi

The two halves of the device are connected by a flexi with 70 way connectors at each end that allows for the
required signals to pass from the engine to the UI board. No service is possible for the flexi, if it is damaged
or faulty it should be replaced.

Slide position sensor

The position (open/shut) of the slide is detected by means of a Hall-effect sensor on the engine PWB (N4400)
and a magnet positioned in the UI slide assembly. The magnet is positioned so that the sensor detects the
fully open position of the slide.
