Operation

Note: Determine the left and right sides of the
machine from the normal operating position.

Controls

Operator Presence Control (OPC)
Levers
Located on the upper handle assembly directly below
the handle grips (see Figure 4).
Figure 4
LH upper handle assembly shown
1. Neutral lock latch
2. Rotate neutral lock latch
When these levers are depressed, the OPC system
senses that the operator is in the normal operator's
position.
Note: The LCD indicator appears in the message
display on the front console when the OPC levers are
depressed (see Figure 5 and Figure 7).
When the levers are released, the OPC system
senses that the operator has moved from the normal
operating position.
• If the levers are released with the speed control
not in neutral, the engine will kill (with or without
PTO engaged).
• If the levers are released with the speed control in
neutral and the PTO engaged, the mower blades
disengage but the engine remains running.
Drive Levers
Located on each side of the upper handle assembly
ahead of and below the handle grips (see Figure 4).
3. OPC Lever
4. Drive lever in neutral
position
These levers individually control the speed and
direction of each drive wheel. When the speed
control lever is moved out of the neutral position
and the neutral lock latches are moved into the drive
position and the drive levers are released, the drive
wheels are engaged in the forward direction.
Squeezing the left hand and/or right hand lever
causes the left hand and/or right hand drive wheel
respectively to slow down, stop, or reverse, depending
on how far each drive lever is "squeezed". Squeezing
the drive levers beyond the neutral position causes
the drive wheels to engage in the reverse direction
regardless of the position of the neutral lock latches
and the speed control lever.
Neutral Lock Latches
Located on the upper handle assembly on the ends
of the handle grips (see Figure 4).
These latches allow the operator to lock the drive
levers in a "neutral" position where the drive wheels
are not engaged in either a forward or reverse
direction.
Choke Control (All Units Except
Kohler EFI)
Located on the RH side of the front control console
(see Figure 5).
The choke is used to aid in starting a cold engine.
Moving the choke lever forward will put the choke in
the "ON" position and moving the choke lever to the
rear, to the detent, will put the choke in the "OFF"
position. Do Not run a warm engine with choke in
the "ON" position.
