Electrical connections

The mains cable with plug is factory connected and fitted. It
just has to be plugged into a 230 V/10 A earthed socket. NB:
The heater must be filled with water before the power is con-
nected. If the heater is not filled, the element will be destroyed
and the warranty will be invalidated. For further information on
the thermostat and element, see spare parts.
Replacing the thermostat:
Disconnect the power before taking the electrical cover off
the heater. Disconnect the two power supply conductors (blue
and brown) from the thermostat. The earth conductor (yellow/
green) is attached to a connector on the tank. The thermostat is
pressed firmly onto the element. It is simple to remove by pull-
ing it straight off the element, which is screwed into the heater.
NB: The thermostat has a sensor that goes into a sensor sheath
on the element. When a new thermostat is fitted, the sensor
has to be inserted in the sensor sheath. Then press the thermo-
stat firmly into place before reconnecting the conductors.
Replacing the element:
Turn off the water supply and drain the heater completely us-
ing the drain plug. Remove the thermostat as described above.
Then unscrew the element using a 1½" element spanner (KN)
and screw a new element in (check that the o-ring seal is in
place on the element) before putting the thermostat back.
NB: The heater MUST be filled with water before the power is
connected!
