Precauzioni per impiego
di olio diverso
da quello prescritto
Volendo fare usa di olio di al-
tra Casa produttrice, e neces-
saria procedere aile seguenti
operazioni:
1) Scaricare completamente
I'olio a motore ben cal do, to-
gliendo il tappa dalla coppa,
2) Immettere nel motore 7 litri
di olio del tipo da usare e scal-
darla facendo girare il motore
a circa 2500 giri/1' per circa
10 minuti; scaricare nuova-
mente e sostituire il filtro.
DISTRIBUZIONE
La distribuzione e a valvole in
testa, comandate da quattro
alberi a cammes,
Gli alberi sono comandati da
due cinghie dentate tramite
ingranaggi di rinvio azionati
dall'albero motore,
Su ogni testa, Ie valvole sono
disposte a V di 33" 30' e porta-
no all'estremita superiore un
bicchierino sui quale ha sede
una pastiglia.
Per consentlre la realizzazio-
ne dei giuochi prescritti, Ie pa-
stiglie vengono fornite can
spessori variabili da 3,25 a
4,60 mm. can intervallo di mm
0,05
Non e consentita la diminuzio-
ne della spessore delle pasti-
glie can rettifica, poiche Ie due
superfici sana indurite con
speciale procedimento.

Precautions it prendre
pour utilisation d'une autre
huile que celie prescrite
Si I'on veut utiliser une huile
d'une autre production, iI est
necessaire de proceJer aux
operations suivantes:
1) Vidanger entierement I'hui-
Ie, a moteur bien chaud, en
otant Ie bouchon du carter
d'huile.
2) Introduire dans Ie moteur 7
litres d'huile du type a utiliser
et Ie chauffer en faisant tour-
ner Ie moteur
a
environ 2500
tours/minute, pendant envi-
ron 10 minutes; vidanger de
nouveau et remplacer Ie filtre.
DISTRIBUTION
La distribution est a SOLJpapes
en tete, commandees par
quatre arb res

cames.
Les arbres sont commandes
par deux courroies crantees,
par I'intermediaire d'un engre-
nage de renvoi actionne par
I'arbre moteur.
Sur chaque tete, les clapets
sont disposes en V de 33

a leurs extremites superieures
ils portent une coupelle sur la-
quelle se troLive une pastille.
Afin de permettre la realisa-
tion des jeux prescrits, les
pastilles sont fournies en
epaisseurs variables de 3,25 a
4,60 mm. par intervalles de
0,05 mm.
II ne faut pas, diminuer par
rectification I'epaisseur des
pastilles, etant donne que
leurs deux faces ont ete dur-
cies par procede speciaL

Should this fault persists,
bring the car to a Ferrari
Service for assembly check-
ing.
Precautions to be taken
when using oil other
than that recommended.
Should for any reason other
brands of oil be used the fol-
lowing procedure is recom-
mended.
1) Thoroughly drain the oil
from the sump when hot.
2) Fill the engine with 1,54
imperial gallons of the brand
of oil to be used and warm at
2500 R.P.M. for approximately
ten minutes; re-drain and
change the filter.
VALVE GEAR
The valves are mounted in the
heads, and are operated by 4
overhead camshafts.
The camshafts are driven by
toothed timing belts, from
intermediate gears driven by
the crankshaft.
On each head the valves are
inclined at 33 0 30' one with res-
pect to the other and are
actuated by an inverted
thimble into which fits a
spacer. The required valve
clearance is achieved by
selecting the appropriate
spacer. The spacers vary in
thic.kness from .128" to
.181" in steps of .0020".
The thickness of the metal
discs must not be reduced by
grinding, as the surfaces of
the discs have a special har-
dening treatment.
