In order to prevent personal injury to you or others, the engine
cover must be closed whenever the engine is running.
• DO NOT operate the engine with the engine cover open or
while someone is in the area of an open engine cover.
• DO NOT open the engine cover unless the engine is turned
OFF and rotating parts are stationary and remain in a
stationary position.
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ALL WORK ON THE ENGINE BE
DONE BY TRAINED AND QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.
During the warm up period, check the gauges for correct and
normal operation of all the systems:
• Oil pressure 35-80 psi , approximately at 2000 rpm
• Cooling water flow and water temperature 140-170°
• Cooling water temperature for fresh water systems: 170 –
210°
• Volts should rise to around 13 - 14V or higher
• Idle rpm (600 - 700) in gear
CAUTION
DO NOT shift into forward or reverse at engine speeds
above idle rpms.
DO NOT operate the engine without a cooling water
supply.
Damage to the water pump impeller and engine can
occur. If the engine does not start, refer to Section 9,
Troubleshooting.
Getting Underway
DO NOT operate at high rpms in NEUTRAL.
