Dynamic IP
Choose Dynamic IP Address to obtain IP
Address:
Address information automatically from
your ISP. Select this option if your ISP
does not give you an IP address to use.
This option is commonly used for Cable
modem services.
Host Name:
The Host Name is optional but may be
required by some ISPs. The default host
name is the device name of the Router
and may be changed.
MAC Address:
The default MAC Address is set to the
WAN's physical interface MAC address
on the Broadband Router. It is not
recommended that you change the
default MAC address unless required
by your ISP.
Clone MAC You can use the Clone MAC Address button to copy the MAC address of your network adapter and replace the WAN MAC
Address:
address with it. Some ISP's record the MAC address of the network adapter in the computer used to initially connect to
their service. The ISP will then only grant Internet access to requests from a computer with this particular Mac Address.
DNS Addresses: Enter the Primary DNS server IP address assigned by your ISP.
Maximum Transmission Unit - you may need to change the MTU for optimal performance with your specific ISP. 1500 is the
MTU:
default MTU.
