Replacing fuses
The
fuse
box
which
has
a
transparent cover
is
located
under
the
instrument panel near the
steering
column.
There are
two
more fuse
holders
in
the engine
compartment
for
back-up lamps*
and
the control
valve of
the
VW Automatic- (when
this
fuse
blows
the
driving
ranges
cannot be
se-
lected).
When
a
fuse blows,
it
is
not
sufficient
to
merely replace it
with
a
new
fuse.
The cause
of
the short circuit
or
overload must
be
establ ished.
On no account should fuses be patched
up
with tin
foil
or
wire
as
this
can cause serious
damage elsewhere
in
the electrical
system.
ft is
advisable
to
always carry
a
few
spare
8
and
16
ampere fuses on the
vehicle.
There
is
an
I
ampere fuse under
the
rear
seat
the
heated rear
window
main current.
