    Connecting the Hardware This section describes how to connect NPort 5400 to serial devices for first time testing purposes. We cover Wiring Requirements, Connecting the Power, Grounding NPort 5400, Connecting to the Network, and Connecting to a Serial Device. Wiring Requirements Be sure to disconnect the power cord before installing and/or wiring your NPort 5400.

    Connecting to the Network Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to NPort 5400’s 10/100M Ethernet port and the other end of the cable to the Ethernet network. If the cable is properly connected, NPort 5400 will indicate a valid connection to the Ethernet in the following ways: The Ethernet LED maintains a solid green color when connected to a 100 Mbps Ethernet network.
