Caller ID Service
Talking Caller ID
This feature lets you know who is calling
without looking at the display. When a
call comes in, the handset and base unit
announce the caller's name or phone
number displayed on the handset
following every ring.
To use this feature, you must subscribe
to Caller ID service of your telephone
service provider.
To activate this feature, you must turn
this feature on (page 26).
L If the caller's phone number is stored
in the phonebook, the handset and
base unit announce the name stored
in the phonebook. If the handset does
not have a link to the base unit
(battery is empty, for instance), the
base unit announce the Caller ID
name or number received from the
telephone service provider.
L Depending on your telephone service
provider, the unit may announce the
phone number before announcing the
caller's name stored in the
phonebook.
L Name pronunciation may vary. This
feature may not pronounce all names
correctly.
L Caller ID service has a limit of how
many characters can be displayed. If
caller's name is too long, the handset
may not be able to display or
announce the entire name.
L Usually the unit announces the
caller's name after the 2nd ring. If you
turn on the answering system and set
the ring count to "2" (page 32), the
unit does not announce the caller's
name. If "Toll saver" is selected
and there is a new message, the unit
does not announce the caller's name.
L Your unit may mute one or more rings
in order to announce the name of the
20
caller. Talking Caller ID takes
precedence over ringing.
L The announcement is heard at the
ringer volume (page 15, 26).
L This feature can be turned on or off
(page 26).
Ringer ID/Light-up ID
This feature can help you identify who is
calling by using different ringers and
ringer indicator colours for different
callers stored in the phonebook. You
can assign a different ringer and
indicator colour to each phonebook
item. When a call is received from a
caller stored in the phonebook, the
assigned ringer rings and the assigned
ringer indicator colour flashes after
Caller ID information is displayed.
If you select "No Ringer ID" (default)
or "No Light-up ID" (default), the
handset uses the ringer tone or ringer
indicator colour you selected on page
25 when a call is received from that
caller.
L The ringer and indicator colour may
be changed after the 2nd ring.
