    Introduction Thank you very much for purchasing Transcend’s JetFlash™. This small device is designed to expedite exchanging huge amounts of data between any desktop or notebook computer. With higher storage capacity and a much faster data transfer rate than typical portable storage media, it can easily replace floppy disks and hard disks.

    Double-click on 98Driver.exe to run this program. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete driver installation. Plug JetFlash into an available USB port. You will be able to find a new Removable Disk drive with a newly assigned drive letter in the My Computer window.

    Windows system tray, please follow the steps below to reinstall the Driver for JetFlash. Click the button on the task bar and select Programs. Select Select and follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the driver for JetFlash.

    (Resize), you need to understand the following terms and concepts. Type 1: 『Public Area Only』Type This is the default partition type for JetFlash, which makes the entire JetFlash memory accessible by anyone. Access to data is unrestricted. No secure data area is established.

    『Public Area Only』 Type device and 『Security Area』 Type device can be open and accessed at the same time. Resize The default configuration of JetFlash is 『Public Area Only』. To establish a Security Area on JetFlash, or otherwise change the partition type of JetFlash, you need to use the Resize procedure.
  • Page 12 Select the partition type you need. a. To reconfigure your JetFlash to the default partition type, i.e., 『Public Area Only』 Type, please select Public Area Only. Then, click OK to continue. b. To partition your JetFlash to 『Security Area』 Type, please select Security Area.

    Once Resize is finished, the following message will appear. Click OK. Access Data in Security Area 1. If your JetFlash has been partitioned to 『Security Area』Type or 『Public Area + Security Area』Type, the following Log In window will appear when JetFlash is first plugged into a USB port.
  • Page 15 You are allowed three tries to input the correct password. After three wrong tries, the following message will appear. Unplug JetFlash and plug it in again to be allowed three more tries to input the correct password to unlock the restricted data in the Security Area.

    If you have forgotten the password, all you can do is Resize your JetFlash. Unfortunately the Resize procedure will erase all data on your JetFlash, and you will lose any data present in the Security Area. After entering the correct password in the Log In window, the Removable Disk window will appear.

    MS-DOS Startup Disk. Upon completion of this procedure, JetFlash can be used to boot-up your computer, allowing you to run MS-DOS programs. This does not make JetFlash a Rescue Disk for Windows, or put Windows Startup files onto JetFlash. After booting with JetFlash, if you wish to enter Windows, you must then start Windows from your hard drive or a previously created Rescue Disk.

  • Page 21 Click OK to continue. Go to Floppy Disk Drive (A:) and open all hidden files. Select and copy all files that were previously copied onto the floppy disk. Make an XP_Bootable folder in the root directory under your computer system disk (C:\).

    Running the Recover Disk program will erase all the data on JetFlash. If there are bad blocks in the flash memory chip of JetFlash, the memory size of JetFlash after running the Recover Disk program will be smaller than the original memory size.
