Chapter 2 Installation

2 Installation

2.1 Connection/Power-On

Carefully remove the board from the shipping carton.
First, check if there are any damages before powering up the evaluation board.
For the power supply the usage of a host PC standard USB port or a USB power
supply is recommended. In case a separate power supply is used, it can be connected
to the pin headers X4 (GND) and X5 (VCC). JP3 must be opened in this case to
disconnect the voltage supplied by the USB connector X3.
As soon as the board is powered up, the green LED LD10 should light up. If the LED does
not light up, check the USB connection and jumper JP3.
Please refer to the corresponding user manuals and application notes for the BGMA adapter
on how to set up the debugging system.

2.2 Driver Installation

Many operating systems automatically recognize and enable the USB-to-serial converter IC
(FT232RL) used on the SK8-FX-TSC-32PMC. Standard VCP (Virtual COM port) drivers can
also be found on the CD included in the starter kit box, or directly on the FTDI homepage
under
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
When you connect the board to the PC, the PC will recognize the new hardware and display
messages prompting you to install the driver. Follow these steps to install the driver.
