Installation instructions
Thermostat "Uni XH"
M 30 x 1.5
1. Turn thermostat to position "5".
2. Adjust the thermostat in such a way that the mark (below
the Oventrop name) is well visible.
3. Hold the thermostat in this position and tighten the collar
nut (do not use excessive force).
4. The capillary must not be kinked or flattened The remote
sensor is mounted onto the wall next to the radiator (about
1 m above the floor) in horizontal position.
Thermostat "Uni XD"
with squeeze connection
1. Set thermostat to position "5" (f) and screw back collar nut
(e) completely as illustrated.
2. Slip thermostat onto valve body until stop (a). Turn
thermostat slightly to the left or right until the inner cams
(c) and grooves (b) click into position.
3. Firmly push thermostat towards the valve body (g) and
firmly tighten the collar nut (e) towards the collar (d).
Do not damage collar nut
4. The capillary must not be kinked or flattened The remote
sensor is mounted onto the wall next to the radiator (about
1 m above the floor) in horizontal position.

Temperature setting
Setting of desired temperature
The desired temperature is set by rotating the thermostat to
the desired number until it is opposite the indicator mark.
The minor graduations between the figures "2" and "4" repre-
sent a change of the room temperature of about 1°C.
Thermostat "Uni XH" and "Uni XD" with remote sensor
Examples:
Swimming pool (in order to save
about 28 °C
heating costs, the control range bet-
ween "4" and "5" should be avoided)
about 24 °C Bathroom
Living room, dining room
about 20 °C Basic setting "3"
Children's room
about 16 °C Hall, corridor
Workshop, sleeping room
about 12 °C Cellar
about 17 °C Frost protection
Isolation of the radiator (only for
model with "0" setting)
The indicated temperatures are only achieved if the complete
heating installation was designed accordingly
Temperature setback
To save heating costs, the room temperature should be set
back at night or during longer absence. To do so, the ther-
mostat is to be set to a lower value, e. g. from figure "3" to
"2".
Temperature should also be set back if rooms are not used
for several hours.
Cleaning
The thermostat may only be cleaned with mild detergent
which is added to warm water.
Scouring agents, solvents and aggressive detergents cause
damage to the surface of the thermostat. It may not be
cleaned in a dish washer.
Disposal
To protect the sensor liquid from escaping, the thermostat
must not be destroyed when disposed of. The thermostat
contains hazardous waste Dismounted/defective thermos-
tats can be returned to the manufacturer Oventrop. They will
be disposed of professionally.
Marking of a set temperature
The
Oventrop
thermostat
is
equipped with a memory disc
which facilitates the reproduc-
tion of your desired temperature
after having turned the ther-
mostat to a different position.
This is done by means of the
memory disc which can be rota-
ted with the aid of a small coin
so that the notch, the setting of
your desired temperature and
the indicator mark are in line.
After having turned the ther-
mostat to a different position,
your desired temperature can be
restored as follows:
Turn the handgrip so that the
notch on the memory disc and
the indicator mark are in line
again.

Operating instructions

Limiting the control range
The temperature range may be limited if required, with the
two limiting clips.
The thermostat may be limited to each minor graduation,
figure and the frost protection symbol.
Example: Your desired room temperature is between about
16 °C (figure "2") and about 22 °C (figure "3" plus two minor
graduations).
For limiting the maximum temperature
range, turn the thermostat so the desi-
red max. room temperature, e.g. figure
"3" plus 2 minor graduations (about
22 °C), is in front of the indicator mark -
illustration 1. Now, slide the right
limiting element out of the parking
position into the limiting position -
illustration 2 (if required, the thermostat
has to be moved a little bit).
For limiting the minimum temperature
range, turn the thermostat so the
desired min. room temperature, e.g.
figure "2" (about 16 °C), is in front of
the indicator mark. Now, slide the left
limiting clip out of the parking position
into the limiting position - illustration 3.
Now only the chosen temperature
range can be used.
To cancel the limitation, the thermostat
is turned so the chosen min. and max.
temperature is in line with the indicator
mark. Then the limiting elements are
put back in the parking position.
Locking a set value
If a set temperature is to be locked, e.g.
position "3" (about 20 °C), i. e. an acci-
dental change of temperature shall be
avoided, a set value can be locked by
sliding both (left and right) limiting clips
out of the parking position into the
limiting position at the same time -
illustration 4.
This lock can be cancelled by simply sliding both limiting
clips back into the parking position.
The thermostat may be locked at any minor graduation,
graduation number and the frost protection symbol.
Airing of rooms
As the air is used up very fast during the heating period, the
rooms should be aired by opening the windows wide for a
short period.
Before airing the room, the thermostat should be turned to
the frost protection symbol. The airing being completed, the
thermostat is turned back to its initial position. Should the
temperature range have been limited, set the thermostat to
the minimum temperature.
