DCT3400 User Guide DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER (DVR) The DCT3400 contains a hard drive for the digital video recorder (DVR) to record standard- and high-definition TV (HDTV) programs. A standard VCR records and plays analog video. DVR records and plays digital video. Unlike an analog tape, the hard drive allows simultaneous recording and playback. -

HDMI and IEEE 1394 offer higher video quality than component video. If your TV has an HDMI input, use the HDMI output instead of IEEE 1394.
