4.2 E2XY-2-Port 10GE SFP+ Optical Interface Subcard
This section describes the functions, appearance, indicators, interfaces, and technical
specifications of the 2-port 10GE SFP+ optical interface subcard.
4.2.1 Functions and Applications
Functions
The E2XY provides two 10GE SFP+ optical interfaces to implement data access and line-speed
switching.
The cost of a 10GE interface is higher than that of other interfaces, so it is used as an uplink
aggregation interface on high-bandwidth and high-speed Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs)
or backbone networks. When an enterprise user needs the high-quality triple-play service, the
E2XY provides access interfaces for downlink devices or networks. The E2XY uses fibers as
transmission media and supports up to 40 km transmission distance. Different transmission
distances can be supported by changing SFP+ optical modules.
Applications
The E2XY can be inserted into the front subcard slot of the S5700-28C-EI, S5700-52C-EI,
S5700-28C-EI-24S, S5700-28C-SI, S5700-52C-SI, S5700-28C-PWR-EI, or S5700-52C-PWR-
EI.

If an interface does not reside on a front subcard and is the fifth interface from left to right
and top to bottom, the interface is named Ethernet 0/0/5. If the stacking function is enabled
and the stack ID is 1, the interface is named Ethernet 1/0/5.
If an interface resides on a front subcard and is the third interface from left to right, the
interface is named Ethernet 0/1/3. If the stacking function is enabled and the stack ID is 1,
the interface is named Ethernet 1/1/3.
NOTE
The two optical interfaces of the E2XY support only the 10G SFP+ optical modules.
