To shut down the computer:

Choose Shut Down from the Special menu in Mac
OS.
OR
You are prompted to save any unsaved files before shutting down.

Press the power key on the keyboard
A Shut Down dialog box is displayed

Choose the Shut Down option by pressing the return key.
CAUTION:
Do not use the power button on the front panel
to turn off the computer. If you do, unsaved or open
documents may be lost and you may damage System files.
