Initializing
Initialization removes existing software from the drive, and then writes new partitions
and installs the latest HDT driver. Initialization allocates partitions without the need to
reformat the drive. Initialization is recommended for drives that have data corruption
and/or software malfunction problems, and for drives that have become very fragmented.
Initializing will wipe out all previous partitions and the data in them.
CAUTION: If you are re-initializing a drive, make sure you have backed up all your files.
To initialize your drive:
1.
Choose the Initialize command from HDT Primer PE's File menu. A warning message
appears (Figure 3.8). Make sure that there is nothing on the disk that you want to save
before continuing
