Chapter 11 Advanced Data Formatting
Introduction
Advanced Data Formatting (ADF) is a means of customizing data before transmission to the host device. Use ADF
to edit scan data to suit requirements. Implement ADF by scanning a related series of bar codes which program the
digital scanner with ADF rules.
For information and programming bar codes for ADF, refer to the Advanced Data Formatting Programmer Guide,
p/n 72E-69680-xx.
NOTE ADF rules modify input to the parser. As a result, when using the Symbol DS9808-DL/LL, applying some
ADF rules to PDF bar codes can pass invalid data to the parser. For this reason, for the Symbol
DS9808-DL/LL, Motorola does not guarantee results when using ADF on PDF bar codes.
