Broilingis cookingfoodbydirect
heatfromabovethe food.Your
ovenhas a convenient c ompartment
belowthe ovenfor broiling.A
speciallydesignedbroilerpan and
rack allowsdrippingfatto drain
awayfromthe foodsandbe kept
awayfromthe highheatof the
gas flame.
Distancefrom the heatsourcemay
be changedby positioning t hebroiler
pan and rack on oneof threeshelf
positionsin thebroilercompartment—

How
to
Broil
1. If meathas fator gristlenearthe
edge,cut verticalslashesthroughit
about2 inchesapart, butdon'tcut
intomeat. Wer~cornmend that
trim fatto preventexcessive
smoking,leavinga layerabout
l/8-inchthick.
2. Arrangefoodon rackand
positionthe broilerpan in the
you
compartment.Placingfoodcloser
to flameincreases exteriorbrowning
of fd, butalsoincreases spattering
and the possibilityof fatsandmeat
juices igniting.
3. Closethe broilerdoor.
4. Press the BROILpad andturn
the SET knobuntilyourchoice
of HI BROILor LOBROILis
displayed.Note:Chickenandham
are broiledat LO BROILin order
to cookfoodthroughwithout
overbrowning it.
5. Turnmostfoodsonceduring
cooking(theexceptionis thinfillets
of fish; oil one side,placethatside
downonbroilermckandcookwithout
turninguntildone).~lme foodsfor
aboutone-halfthetotalcooking
time, turn food;thencontinueto
cookto preferreddoneness.
6. PushCLEAR/OFFpad. Remove
broflerpanfrombroilercompartment
and servefoodimmediately. L eave
panoutsidethecompartment to cool.
