Connecting the Q Access Keypad

The installation methods used are critical to ensure trouble-free
operation of the Q Access Keypad. Most of the problems that occur over
time can be traced back to poor installation techniques or improper
wiring. This section will assist in determining the wire needed for the
installation of the keypad.

Connecting the Power and Data Communication

Power and data communication connection is the most important wiring
connection for Q Access Keypads. LiftMaster requires the use of at least
18 AWG shielded wire for the power and communication to the keypad.
Larger wire may be required for long runs. Both can be run through a
single 4-conductor shielded cable. Do not run any other devices through
the same run of wire. See Figure 4 for details on connecting the wiring to
the Q Access Keypad.
