All wiring to the Q Access Keypad is done through removable terminal
block connectors. The connector on the left (P1) has all of the
connections for the power and data communication wiring. The
connector on the right (P4) connects to a gate operator or door strike.
The Q Access Keypad can connect to two different devices if needed.
When wiring the keypad, a consistent color code should be used
throughout the site. The recommended color code for the power and
data communication cable is as follows:
Red
+12 VDC (or AC line 1): Connect to Pin 1 of connector P1
Black
0 VDC (or AC line 2):
White Data +
Shield Protective Shield
Green Data -
The shield on the cable is a protective ground shield and should be
connected to a known good earth ground near the origin of the cable at
the controller. Pin 3 of connector P1 can be connected to an electrical
ground that is physically close to the Q Access Keypad. This may be
required in areas of extreme weather or where RF interference is
present.

Connecting the Video Camera

When installing a video camera in the Q Access Keypad, the only
additional connection required is a single coaxial cable to the monitor.
This cable should be an RG59 coaxial cable with at least a 95% overall
shield. This will give the best possible picture from the camera. Power for
the camera comes from the Q Access Keypad. In some situations, it may
be necessary to install a video amplifier or a video isolator, depending on
how the video system is installed. See Figure 5 for information on
connecting the video camera.
