    Recommended toner cartridges To assure optimal printing performance, we recommend that you use only genuine TOSHIBA toner cartridges. If you use a TOSHIBA-recommended toner cartridge, you can utilize the following three functions of this equipment: Cartridge detecting function: This function checks if the toner cartridge is correctly installed and notifies you if it is not.
  • Page 16 From the beginning TOSHIBA supplies and machines were made for each other. Whenever TOSHIBA designs a new machine, it also designs a new toner that is made just for that machine. By using genuine TOSHIBA supplies with TOSHIBA equipment, you are guaranteed optimum performance.

Make sure that there is enough space around the system to facilitate changing of parts, maintenance and clearing paper jams. If there is insufficient space, some operations, such as bypass feeding, will become difficult and the equipment could even break down.

For the acceptable paper, see the following page: P.29 “Acceptable media types” Turn the power of the equipment ON. Pull out the drawer carefully. Pull out the drawer until it comes to a stop.
  • Page 34 1 PREPARATION Load paper in the drawer. The maximum number of sheets that can be placed at one time is 250 (64 to 80 g/m , 17 - 20 lb. Bond). Be sure that the stack height of paper is not higher than the line indicated at the inner side of the side guide and trailing guide.

    1 PREPARATION 1.PREPARATION Adjust the side guides to the desired paper size. Be sure that a gap of approx. 0.5 mm/0.02” (less than 1.0 mm/0.04” in total) is left between the paper and each side guide (shown as “A” in the picture). If the gap is inappropriate, this could cause a paper misfeed. Push the drawer straight into the equipment slowly until it comes to a stop.
  • Page 36 1 PREPARATION Load paper face down and straight on the bypass tray and then align the side guides to the paper edges. Up to 100 sheets of plain paper (64 - 80 g/m , 17 - 20 lb. Bond) can be set. In this case, make sure that the height of the paper stack does not exceed the indicators of the side guides.

    1 PREPARATION 1.PREPARATION Loading an envelope on the bypass tray The acceptable envelope sizes are as follows: DL (110 mm x 220 mm), COM10 (4 1/8” x 9 1/2”), Monarch (3 7/8” x 7 1/2”), CHO-3 (120 mm x 235 mm), YOU-4 (105 mm x 235 mm) Notes for using envelopes Do not use the following envelopes as they may cause paper jamming or damage to the equipment.
  • Page 38 1 PREPARATION Place an envelope on a flat clean surface and press it with your hands in the arrow directions as shown below to expel air from the inside. Press it well to prevent the flap from rolling upward. Correct bent corners of the envelope. Open the bypass tray.

When you load paper on the bypass tray, register the size and type of the paper into the equipment. Be sure register them correctly, or they could cause a paper jam.

    1 PREPARATION Preparation 4 - Installing Printer and Scanner Drivers This section describes the procedure to install the printer and scanner drivers. Printer and scanner drivers are software components that enable application programs to interact with the printer and scanner functions of this equipment. System requirements To install the printer and scanner drivers on a Windows computer, make sure of the following system requirements.
  • Page 44 1 PREPARATION Maker sure that “Install All Drivers” is selected and then click [Install]. Although you can select “Install Scanner Driver” or “Install Printer Driver” to install the drivers respectively, select “Install All Drivers” at this step to install them sequentially. Read the message and click [Install].

Windows automatically detects the equipment and starts the wizard for the succeeding installation. Make sure that “Install the software automatically (Recommended)” is selected and click [Next]. Wait while the wizard is searching and installing the software.
  • Page 46 1 PREPARATION Click [Exit] to quit the installer. After you are finished with installing the drivers, you can remove the CD-ROM from the drive. Restart Windows. You are ready to print and scan documents. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, click [Allow] or [Continue]. Click “I don't have the disc, show me other options”. Insert the driver CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of the computer.

Select a folder according to the language and operating system to use. e.g.: When you use the 32-bit English OS, specify “... \Driver\English\i386”. Click [Next]. If the Windows Security dialog box appears, click [Install this driver software anyway]. When the installation completes, click [Close].

If the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box does not appear, turn this equipment off, and then on again. In this case, turn off this equipment, and then wait approximately 10 seconds before turning it on again. If you turn this equipment on immediately after turning it off, it may not function correctly.

You usually use the drawer to make copies, but you may sometimes want to load different paper from that loaded in the drawer. Some paper sizes and types require you to use the bypass tray.

Select the fixed zoom ratio to copy. You can change the fixed zoom ratio on the basic setting menu. When you select the fixed zoom ratio, for example “A3->A4”, the original size A3 is reduced to the copy size A4.

Using the “ID CARD” or “DENSITY” function quickly button function varies from region to region.
