12.2. Error Messages-Display

If the unit detects a problem, one or more of the following
messages will appear on the display.
The explanations given in the [ ] are for servicemen only.
Note:
Refer to Error Message (Display) (P.10) for display mes-
sage.
• There is something wrong with the unit.
[This error is displayed when the thermal head does not
warm up. Check the thermistor on the thermal head and
connector lead.]
• The document was not fed into the unit properly. Re-insert
the document. If misfeeding occurs frequently, clean the
document feeder rollers and try again.
(Refer to Document Jams - Sending (P.136).)
• Attempted to send a document longer than 600 mm. Press
[STOP] to remove the document. Divide the document into
two or more sheets and try again.
[Alternately, turn off service code #559 to enable sending of
documents longer than 600 mm] (Refer to Service Function
Table (P.57).)
• Memory (telephone numbers, parameters, etc.) has been
erased. Re-program.
• The cover is open. Close it and press [FAX/START] to clear
the message.
• The unit has run out of recording paper. Install recording
paper and press [FAX/START] to clear the message.
• The unit has a document in memory. See the other dis-
played message instructions to print out the document. For
fax memory capacity, (Refer to Specifications (P.8)).
• The memory is full of received documents due to lack of
recording paper or a recording paper jam. Install paper or
clear the jammed paper. (Refer to Jams (P.136.)
• When performing broadcast transmission, the document
being stored exceeded the memory capacity of the unit.
Send the entire document manually.
• There is no space to store new items in the phonebook.
Erase unnecessary items.
• There is something wrong with the unit's modem.
[Refer to #554 on Test Mode (P.54) and Digital Board Sec-
tion (P.99)]
• The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out of
recording paper. Try again.
• A recording paper jam occurred. Clear the jammed paper.
(Refer to Jams (P.136 ).)
• The unit is checking and initializing the paper cutter. Wait for
a moment while the check is completed.
• The other party's fax machine does not support polling.
Check with the other party.
• The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out of
recording paper. Try again.
• The document is jammed. Remove the jammed document.
(Refer to Document Jams - Sending (P.136).)
• Press [STOP] to eject the jammed document.
• The system is busy. Replace the handset or stop using mon-
itor, then try again.
• A transmission error occurred. Try again.
• The unit is too hot. Stop using the unit for a while and let the
unit cool down.
