2.2 Installing the Print Driver and Setting Up
the USB Port
To print from the computer, install the software, such as the print driver and SimpleMonitor.
The print driver is software that converts print data and instructions from the computer to a
format that can be interpreted by the printer.

When Using Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows Server 2003

To set up the printer on Windows XP/Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003, install the print
driver, and then set up the USB port if the printer is connected to the computer with a USB
connection.
Important
• Log in as a user with administrator's rights to install the print driver when using Windows XP/Windows
2000/Windows Server 2003.
Installing Print Driver
1. Insert the Software Pack CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. The [Printer Software
CD-ROM Menu] dialog box appears automatically.
2. Click [Print Driver Installation].
