Governor
1. Install the holding device so that all of its teeth are
engaged with the teeth of the crankshaft gear. See
Figure 10-67.
2. Remove any oil or grease from the threaded hole of
the crankshaft and governor screw. Apply a thin
film of Loctite No. 270 (or equivalent) on the
governor screw threads.
Note: The governor screw has left--hand threads. To
correctly install the governor, ensure that the
governor flyweights have spread entirely and that
the socket wrench holds the entire head of the
governor screw.

Tighten the screw at the
Connecting Rod
1. To install new bearing shells, take a half shell and
place it about 3/4 into the connecting rod cap.
2. Using a sliding movement, press the shell in its seat
until the lip goes into its relief.
Note: Avoid touching/scratching the connecting
rod bushing.
3. Repeat this procedure for the other half shell to be
placed in the connecting rod trunk.
4. Find the casting numbers located on the
connecting rod trunk and cap surfaces.

parts with similar numbers.
5. Lubricate the bearing shells.
6. Drive the connecting rod trunk and its cap in the
crankcase around the crankshaft journal.

Note: The stamped numbers must be aligned on the
same side of the connecting rod but it is not
important which engine side (flywheel or gear
cover) the numbers face.
7. Tighten the connecting rod nuts at the specified
torque. See Section 1.5.
