Machine actions
The machine takes a long
time to warm up or the
amount of water dispensed
from the wand is too little.
The brew group cannot be
removed.
There is too much ground
coff ee under or over the
brew group.
The machine produces too
humid or too dry coff ee
grounds.
The machine grinds coff ee
beans but no coff ee comes
out.

Coff ee is too weak
(see note).
Causes
The machine circuit is clogged by
limescale.
The brew group is out of place.
The coff ee grounds drawer is
inserted.
The coff ee used may not be suitable
for automatic machines.
The machine is adjusting the coff ee
grinder for a new kind of coff ee
beans or pre-ground coff ee.
Adjust the coff ee grinder.
There is no water.
The brew group is dirty.
This might occur when the machine
is automatically adjusting the dose.
The dispensing spout is dirty.
This might occur when the machine
is automatically adjusting the dose.
The ground coff ee is too coarse.
The coff ee bean hopper selector
switch has been shifted.
Solutions
Descale the machine.
Turn on the machine. Close the service
door. The brew group automatically
returns to the initial position.
Remove the coff ee grounds drawer
before removing the brew group.
It may be necessary to change the type
of coff ee or the coff ee grinder settings
(see the "Adjusting the Ceramic Coff ee
Grinder" chapter).
The machine automatically adjusts itself
after brewing several cups of coff ee to
optimise the extraction in relation to the
compactness of the ground coff ee.
It may be necessary to brew 2 or 3
products to adjust the coff ee grinder
completely.
This is not a malfunction of the machine.
Adjusting the ceramic coff ee grinder af-
fects the quality of residues.
If the residues are too humid, set a coarser
grind.
If the residues are too dry, set a fi ner
grind.
Refer to the "Adjusting the Ceramic Coff ee
Grinder" chapter.
Fill the water tank and prime the circuit
(see the "Manual Rinse Cycle" chapter).
Clean the brew group (see the "Weekly
Cleaning of the Brew Group" chapter).
Brew some cups of coff ee as described in
the "Saeco Adapting System" chapter.
Clean the dispensing spout.
Brew some cups of coff ee as described in
the "Saeco Adapting System" chapter.
Change coff ee blend or adjust grinding as
explained in the "Adjusting the Ceramic
Coff ee Grinder" chapter.
Move the selector switch to the " "
position.
