Corrective Maintenance

This section describes the corrective maintenance procedures used to
correct printing problems identified by the troubleshooting procedures in
Chapter 3.

Cleaning the Printhead Catcher Bottom Plate

This section describes the procedure used to clean the printhead catcher
bottom plate. This procedure should always be performed before
attempting to swab the printhead.
To prevent damage to the printhead and printed circuit board
components, follow anti-static safety precautions and use the K
V -supplied wrist grounding strap when handling the printhead
ERSAMARK
and circuit boards. Handle circuit boards only by edges free of
connectors.
1. Press [STANDBY].
2. Press [OPEN EYELID].
3. Position the printhead at a 90° angle.
4. Remove the printhead bottom cover by inserting an index finger into
the slot on the bottom cover and carefully pulling the cover off.
5. Using a K V
ODAK ERSAMARK
distilled water, clean the area of the catcher bottom plate (Figure 4.6).
6. Press [CLEAN PRINTHEAD].
