Replacing the Mist Filter

The mist filter, located inside the fluid compartment, controls the
accumulation of moisture inside the printer. A mist filter installed must be
replaced approximately every 500 hours of operation or when the filter
becomes clogged with ink. In general, the frequency of mist filter
replacement depends largely on the operating environment. Drier
environments clog the mist filter faster.
To replace the mist filter, perform the following steps:
Note: Because the mist filter is clogged with ink, wear gloves when performing
this procedure.
1. Open the fluid compartment door and locate the mist filter assembly,
which is centered above the ink and replenisher bottles.
2. Press the release button on the left side of the filter fitting to release
the mist filter assembly from its mount (Figure 4.4).
3. Pull the filter fitting out far enough to remove the mist filter.
4. Remove the filter from the filter fitting.
5. Insert the new filter into the filter fitting, allowing approximately 1.5
in. (3.81 cm) of the filter to protrude (Figure 4.5).
6. Reinstall the mist filter fitting assembly and close the fluid
compartment door.
