To enable the auto-sync feature:

Synchronizing Your Google Account

By default, your device doesn't manage any accounts. These
must be manually added. To have your device manage an existing
Google account:
1.

Add account > Google

Next > Sign in
Note:
If you do not already have a Google account, touch
and follow the onscreen prompts to create your new account.
(See "Creating a Google Account" on page 101.)
