Engine loses power.

Possible Cause
Insufficient combustion air supply
Air in fuel
Dirt, water, or stale fuel is in the fuel system
Faulty injection nozzle(s)
Incorrect injection pump timing
Faulty injection pump
Low compression
The vent hole in the fuel tank vent fitting is plugged
The engine load is excessive
The crankcase oil level is incorrect

Engine knocks.

Bleed nozzles, check for leaks on suction side of
system
Drain and flush fuel system; add fresh fuel
Test nozzles, clean or replace as necessary
Perform complete timing procedure

Perform cylinder leakage test
Repair or replace vent system
Reduce ground speed
Fill or drain to the full mark
Corrective Action
Clean or replace nozzles
Perform complete timing procedure
Clean carbon from cylinder head and piston
Inspection required
