8.5.12 CIS Travel Check (Function code 59)

Function code 59 is not supported in the maintenance program embedded in the flash ROM of the
MFC210C U.S.A./Canadian models. To use Function code 59 in these models, you need to
temporarily load the full maintenance program onto the flash ROM. Refer to
Function
This procedure moves the CIS unit to the white-level reference film position, the scanning start
position, and the scanning end position, allowing you to check the travelling state of the CIS unit.
Only the travel to the scanning end position is necessary at the service site.
Operating Procedure
● When moving the CIS unit
MFC620CN/425CN/420CN/410CN/215C/210C and FAX2440C
(1) Press the 5 and 9 keys in this order in the initial stage of the maintenance mode.
The "1:MO 2:CO 3:CHG" appears on the LCD. This menu is for checking scanning clocks at
the factory. Skip this menu and call up the CIS travel check menu by performing steps (2)
through (4).
(2) Press the 1 key.
(Pressing the 1 key requires the Menu/Set key to be pressed three times to call up the CIS
travel check menu; pressing the 2 key requires it more than three times.)
The "LED PWM: " appears.
(3) Press the Menu/Set key.
The "G PULSE: " appears.
(4) Press the Menu/Set key.
The "1:WHT 2:FRT 3:MV" appears on the LCD. This is the CIS travel check menu.
NOTE: Pressing the 1 key may call up the debug screen to be used at the factory. Press the
Menu/Set key to display the "1:WHT 2:FRT 3:MV."
(5) Press the 3 and Menu/Set keys in this order to move the CIS unit to the scanning end position.
Pressing the 1 (or 2) and Menu/Set keys moves the CIS unit to the white-level reference film
position (or the scanning start position).
(6) To exit the CIS travel check operation, press the Stop/Exit key.
The machine returns to the initial stage of the maintenance mode.
